Serata a Utsonomiya, città industriale a nord di Tokyo. La cameriera mi accoglie spaventata, non si vedono molti occidentali da queste parti. Con due parole giapponesi e qualche gesto italiano chiedo se posso fermarmi per mangiare e mi fanno accomodare al banco. Chiedo un "Omakase", un termine che lascia totale libertà al cuoco di prepararci quello che meglio crede per noi. La serata procede tra deliziosi assaggi di pietanze giapponesi, sake e chiacchere mediate dal traduttore del telefono con il cuoco e la cameriera. L'ultimo pezzo è il sashimi di tonno, che mi mostra orgoglioso, accogliendomi con un sorriso.
