Digitalizzazione dia: Fotocamera Fujica ST 601 - Obb. Panagor 135 f/2,8- Pellicola Ilford FP4 trattata con processo di inversione Ornano Ghedina - GHE F215 - Maggio 1977- Un vecchio marinaio, rimaglia le reti dopo una recente uscita di pesca. L'ambientazione è quella della Loggia Amblingh in pieno centro storico di Vasto. I gesti sono lenti e da tutto traspare una rilassata tranquillità... eppure da quella stessa balconata, che guarda il golfo, si sarebbe potuto assistere solo fino ad alcuni decenni prima alle concitate fasi di un antichissimo rito scaramantico. Il taglio della "coda" di Scione, essere malefico (in genere identificato con una strega) che perturbava il mare con trombe marine e metteva a repentaglio non solo le barche ma la vita stessa dei poveri marinai sorpresi dal fortunale. Allora, per correre ai ripari, le disperate mogli dei pescatori chiamavano "il tagliatore". Questi, che doveva essere il figlio primogenito di un pescatore iniziato fin da giovane ad un rituale segreto ed a scongiuri magici imparati nella notte di Natale o del solstizio d'estate, si portava sulla loggia e con uno speciale coltello cercava di "tagliare la coda" all'essere maligno in modo da fiaccarne la forza e riportare a terra, sani e salvi, i marinai. Tutto cambia, quello è stato l'ultimo pescatore che ho visto sul posto da allora, quando ero un giovane e inesperto fotoamatore.
