Sono un appassionato di storia, in particolare della storia della seconda guerra mondiale. Ho visitato da poco le spiagge dello sbarco in Normandia. Cosa che mi ero ripromesso di fare da qualche decennio. Spiagge che hanno, per me, "nomi" familiari. Sono poi andato a visitare il cimitero e monumento americano alla memoria, a Colleville-sur-Mer. Lo avevo visto in molte foto e documentari, ma transitare tra migliaia di croci bianche, sapendo poi bene il perchè e per cosa sono morti tutti quei ragazzi... mi ha commosso. Nel giro di 10 minuti il mio viso si è rigato di lacrime. Nel mentre ho scorto questo ragazzo, seduto di fronte ad una delle migliaia di croci. E' rimasto li per molto tempo. Gli ho fatto solo questo scatto. Non ho più avuto voglia di continuare per cercare una inquadratura diversa.
