La Ghiandaia sá imitare il canto di altri uccelli e il miagolio del gatti!!! ...ragion per cui, si è guadagnata anche l'appellativo di Ghiandaia Imitatrice! Spesso effettua il cosiddetto “bagno di formiche” posandosi sopra i formicai e, con le ali dispiegate, si fa letteralmente cospargere di acido formico per facilitare l'eliminazione dei parassiti dal piumaggio che diventa più luminoso e per un periodo meno parassitabile.
