E' una copia romana in marmo del I secolo a.C. di una statua in bronzo di Epìgono realizzata intorno al 230-220 a.C., oggi conservata al Museo Nazionale Romano di Palazzo Altemps di Roma. La scultura rappresenta un guerriero galata nell'atto di suicidarsi, affiancato da una figura femminile. L'uomo con la mano destra impugna una spada corta e la conficca nel petto per raggiungere il cuore e la morte quasi istantanea. Questo suicidio, non ci deve sorprendere più di tanto, poiché soprattutto per i guerrieri era un modo onorevole di uscire di scena, e di accettare con onore la sconfitta.
