Colata calcarea nell'Antro del Corchia Situate nel settore meridionale delle Alpi Apuane, nell'alta Versilia, con 5 milioni di anni di storia geologica alle spalle, le grotte dell'Antro del Corchia sono il sistema carsico più esteso d'Italia (e uno dei più grandi al mondo) con circa 70 km conosciuti fra cunicoli, gallerie e pozzi ed altri 30 km che si stima debbano essere ancora esplorati. I suoi 1187 m di dislivello ne fanno la terza grotta più profonda d'Italia. Non a caso il Monte Corchia (1678 m) è chiamato la “Montagna Vuota”! L'Antro del Corchia fu scoperto nel 1840 da Emilio Simi e prese il nome di Buca Ventajola e successivamente Buca d'Eolo a causa del forte vento che vi soffia all'ingresso.
