Roccacasale è la vedetta della Valle Peligna. È un piccolo paese aggrappato alle pendici scoscese del Monte Morrone sulla cui sommità campeggia un bel castello recinto a pianta triangolare, il Castello de Sanctis. Le viuzze in salita, le case di pietra, le antiche cantine, la chiesa, la piazza, il castello, la montagna creano quell'atmosfera suggestiva che accomuna Roccacasale a molti borghi dell'Abruzzo interno. Ma qui in più è percepibile un certo spirito di magia, che nasce dalla tradizione dell'uso delle erbe spontanee e dai tanti racconti di fate, fattucchiere, bambini rapiti, incantesimi e tesori nascosti. Nelle vicinanze del Castello c'è il Colle delle Fate, dove si trovano un insediamento fortificato italico d'altura e antiche cisterne. Si dice che qui l'ultima fattucchiera di Roccacasale trascorresse molto tempo…
