Una preziosissima specie endemica, che richiama la forte somiglianza con i capelli. Si trova esclusivamente sul Monte Quacella e in nessun'altra parte del Mondo. L'etimologia Stipa deriva dal greco??????? stýppe?stoppa, ovvero massa di fibre.
