La mia grande passione, quella a cui dedico tutto il mio tempo, è preservare la natura. In questi anni ho trasformato il mio giardino in un oasi naturale. Ci sono tante specie di piante e gli animali possono vivere al sicuro, hanno cibo, acqua e tanti posti in cui nascondersi e preparare la tana. Attraverso le fotografie cerco di documentare e raccontare la vita delle specie che incontro. Preservare la natura richiede tanto impegno, oltre ad allevare molte specie di insetti, quando incontro animali feriti o in difficoltà faccio tutto il possibile per salvarli. A fine aprile ho ricominciato le mie esplorazioni notturne e ho incontrato questi due ricci feriti, un maschio e una femmina. sono stati attaccati da un cane, avevano ferite sul dorso e al maschio era stata strappata via una zampa posteriore con un morso. Ho pubblicato in questa galleria altre due foto dove racconto bene cosa gli è successo. Per circa due settimane ho curato quotidianamente le ferite e con mio grande sollievo sono guariti in fretta. All'inizio è stato difficile perché avevano paura, ma hanno imparato presto a fidarsi di me. Il maschio a causa della zampa mancante resterà più debole e non potrà farcela a sopravvivere in natura, nonostante questo però riesce a camminare e anche a correre. Nei primi giorni di maggio li ho portati nel sottobosco per fotografarli insieme. Li ho delicatamente sistemati tra l'erba e ho aspettato che si aprissero. Il primo è stato il maschio che si è subito avvicinato incuriosito alla femmina per annusarla, subito dopo anche lei ha iniziato a muoversi e insieme hanno camminato tra l'erba per circa 10 minuti senza mai allontanarsi troppo.
