Una galassia larga circa 170'000 anni luce, il doppio della nostra Via Lattea, è quella che si trova nella costellazione dell'Orsa Maggiore vicino ad una delle sue stelle più luminose chiamata Mizar. Questa galassia è anche detta Galassia Girandola - M101 - data la sua forma a spirale. Per fotografare questa galassia è necessario un telescopio con aperture importanti in quanto altrimenti non si riuscirebbe a distinguere il nucleo più brillante con i frammenti dei suoi bracci a spirale. Questa galassia dista 21'000'000 anni luce dalla Terra ed è posizionata "di faccia" rispetto a noi, il che la rende perfetta per un "primo piano" in modo da farci apprezzare la sua configurazione in tutta la sua bellezza. Da un lato la galassia presenta una asimmetria, essa si è formata in tempi astronomicamente recenti a causa dell'interazione di un'altra galassia che ne ha deformato i bracci a causa delle potenti forze mareali. Non molto lontana da essa, vi è un'altra galassia nana, chiamata NGC 5474, la loro attrazione gravitazionale ha fatto sì che NGC 5474 sia decisamente distorta ed il suo nucleo spostato decisamente verso la Galassia più grande M101 e, di conseguenza, anche M101 è stata distorta dalla sua compagna. Dati tecnici: E' una somma di 42 ore di posa in HaLRGB - Telescopio: Tecnosky Fast 300mm - Camera: ASI 6200 M. Foto scattata durante i mesi tra Febbraio ed Aprile.

Thank you very much both for the EP and also for your, as usual, warm and pleasant comments.
