Tra le Ophrys con l'areale di distribuzione più ampio. Presente in tutte le regioni italiane, localmente comune, ubiquitaria. Ricorre quasi esclusivamente all'autoimpollinazione(autogamia), non il massimo ai fini evoluzionistici, ma efficace per la riproduzione. Sono quindi rari gli ibridi, ma numerose le varianti morfologiche, ben stabilizzate o occasionali(che forse presenterò in futuro).
