Chiesa di Santa Maria in Campo – Cavenago di Brianza (MB) “La chiesa di stile romanico, dedicata in origine a Santa Maria Assunta, si ritiene sia stata edificata quale ex voto come piccolo Oratorio nel XII secolo. Le prime testimonianze storiche affidabili della sua presenza a Cavenago risalgono al XIII secolo, allorché una comunità di Frati Umiliati si insediarono in essa e la ricostruirono successivamente nella prima metà del XV secolo. Attorno ad essa furono anche edificate diverse abitazioni e locali di lavoro, di cui oggi non resta alcuna traccia visibile. Al suo interno sono presenti diversi cicli di affreschi di pregevole fattura e di epoche diverse, mentre altri importanti affreschi, tra i quali una Madonna di ispirazione Leonardesca, sono stati staccati dalle pareti di settentrione e trasportati su tela negli anni 60. Dopo attento restauro gli stessi sono stati collocati nella Chiesa Parrocchiale di Cavenago, dove sono tutt'ora visitabili e rappresentano un eccezionale patrimonio culturale della comunità di Cavenago.” Oggi la chiesa si trova nel pieno della zona industriale di Cavenago di Brianza. Interamente recintata e, purtroppo quasi sempre chiusa.
