Realizzato col lampeggiatore della fotocamera. Lo scatto fa parte di una sequenza che documenta lo sfarfallamento di un dittero Chironomide (dopo poco assumerà una colorazione definitiva più scura). Molti insetti di questa famiglia vivono allo stadio larvale nei torrenti freddi di montagna dove, a parte qualche rarissimo caso, sarebbe impossibile seguirne lo sfarfallamento perché la pupa tende a risalire in superficie e ad essere trascinata dalla corrente, ma per mia fortuna la vecchia fontana comunale sotto casa è una delle poche che rimane con lo zampillo aperto tutto l'anno ed è frequentata da diversi insetti dei torrenti: una situazione ideale per documentarne il comportamento.
