Dear Fabio and Paolo, I always ask myself another question: "ok, today it turned out... Rediscovered! but can anyone tell me how they managed to cover & bury everything so minutely well"?
Welcome back and thanks for the visit always welcome ;-)

I'm only sorry that for every "find" even insignificant, you have to block activities and permanent jobs :-/
Maybe these sites were just landfills of their time and some pitiful hand had seen fit to cover them with soil to hide them from view :-P

Very true Carlo,
thinks that the works of this station and that Toledo, lasted 8 long years, and had to stop several times after the discovery, precisely because of the bureaucratic delays of the archaeological superintendence.
Thanks as always for the very welcome visit ;-)

Our history is so far away in time that modern cities often rise on the ruins of the ancient, so it is not uncommon that the floor on which relatively recent structures are built hides only a few meters below complexes, villas and any form of find, even useless.
In my area there are even underground sheds with Roman walls inside. What do you do pull down?
In front of the house I have a mausoleum, in my opinion of incredible value and if you probe who knows how much else would come out.

For me Fabio, the absolute truth, is that all those who follow one another in the public administration, all and I say all, have as a "vital" objective to favor the friend of the friend of the friend, with contemptuousness, of the true value of every artistic asset recovered or to be recovered ... If there is no direct gain or economic return, even the "landfills" do not arouse any charm ... unfortunately!
A warm greeting to all
