71 natural light exposures of butterfly from Lycaenidae family.

Photographed on 27.09.2012.

Below is a single exposure image from the stack, the DOF at 5X magnification and f4 aperture is VERY small at 0.05 mm!

Processing high magnification images for stacking is usually difficult, all kinds of problems usually arise.

wow great job, your technique is fascinating, and use it with great skill, every time I remain in awe (especially in HD) to watch these REAL MACRO. Congratulations, Giulio. :-)

The usual is perfect sharpness in the image.
Personally heat a little 'color and blurred canceled That strip on the right presumably formed by the antenna, Because a little' disturbs vision.

but how does an insect sitting still for so long??

Thanks all!

Pigi - yes, that's the other antenna. It's so OOF due to the high magnification and open aperture. I've chosen to keep it in the background, perhaps it would have been better to clone it.

Flavio - really difficult to manage the white balance properly for this image, there are fine gradients of white and blues for this butterfly. I've tried to set a neutral color.

Ludovico - all my images are shot early in the morning when insects are much more calm. It takes me around 4 minutes to shoot those images. But many times I fail, the insects move... Sorriso
