Viale di accesso del Padiglione Sarteschi compreso nel complesso dell'l'Ex Ospedale Pschiatrico Ferri di Volterra, uno dei tanti Ex Manicomi sparsi per la nostra penisola ormai chiusi da anni, un luogo triste, vasto, una vera e propria citta' all'interno di Volterra; nella sua lunga attivita' (fu inaugurato nell' 800) ha curato centinaia, migliaia di pazienti indesiderabili.
Un Inferno, all'interno del quale si arrivo' anche a toccare, come numero di degenti, ben 6000 individui, troppi, tanti, una situazione insostenibile per una struttura dove esistevano solamente 20 lavandini e 2 bagni ogni 200 degenti!
All'interno dell' Ospedale trovarono la morte per "troppa cura" migliaia di persone che non videro mai più un cielo senza sbarre.
Affascinanti per chi visita il sito sono i più di 180 metri di muri esterni del Padiglione Ferri dove Oreste Ferdinando Nannetti,(rinchiuso nel manicomio come criminale dopo aver offeso un carabiniere) astronautico ingegnere minerario, come lui stesso si definiva, ha inciso nei lunghi anni di degenza/detenzione con la sola fibbia della cintura, un'opera d'arte, metri e metri di incisioni, nomi, date disegni ma anche figure di uomini, astronavi, carabinieri etc etc.
Purtroppo l'incuria ed il corso degli anni hanno in parte distrutto quest'opera che purtroppo e' destinata a disperdersi per sempre.
Una visita che si e' dimostrata un esperienza molto forte sul piano emotivo, che mi ha fatto comprendere e capire la decisione di chiudere di questi veri e propri lager, vergognosi per una qualsiasi societa' che voglia definirsi civile.
