Valle d'Aosta settembre 2021 - sulle rive del Lago Miserin. A 2583 metri di altitudine, affacciato sulle limpide acque di un lago di montagna, sorge il suggestivo santuario dedicato alla Madonna delle Nevi, meta ogni anno di frequenti visite e pellegrinaggi, tra cui si ricorda in particolare quello relativo alla processione del 5 agosto che parte dalla Chiesa parrocchiale di Champorcher. La leggenda narra che in questa sperduta vallata avesse trovato rifugio un militare romano di fede cristiana appartenente alla mitica legione tebea, sfuggito ad un terribile massacro grazie alla protezione della Madonna di cui portava sempre con sé una statua. Questa stessa statua sarebbe stata rinvenuta da alcuni pastori proprio sulle sponde del lago Misérin nel corso del XVI secolo. Edificato nel XVII secolo sui resti di un precedente oratorio, il santuario venne quindi ricostruito nel 1880 e dotato di dormitorio per i pellegrini; fu quindi nuovamente rimaneggiato dopo i danni subiti nella Seconda Guerra mondiale.
