Charles Marc Hervé Perceval Leclerc nasce a Monte Carlo… nel Principato di Monaco… giovedì 16 ottobre 1997. Si appassiona alle competizioni automobilistiche fin da piccoletto in quanto suo padre Hervé (1963-2017)… che era stato un pilota prima in Formula 3 e poi in Formula 3000… aveva gestito un kartodromo a Brignoles (F) dove Charles iniziò a prendere confidenza con la velocità. Alla guida dei Kart... fin dal quarto anno di età... vincerà il Campionato Francese nel biennio 2005-2006 e poi ancora nel biennio 2008-2009 e aggiudicandosi pure la Coppa del Mondo nel 2011. Nel 2012 lo troviamo a condurre le prime vetture monoposto a ruote scoperte gareggiando da prima nella Formula Renault 2 Litri dalla quale passa poi… nel 2015… alla Formula 3 alla guida di una Dallara F 312 nel Campionato Europeo… che si aggiudicherà nel 2016 con una Dallara GP3/16 motorizzata Mecachome. Sarà ancora primo a fine stagione nel 2017 alla guida di una vettura Dallara GP2/11… sempre con motorizzazione Mecachome… nel Campionato Mondiale di Formula 2. Nel biennio 2016-2016 farà parte della Ferrari Driver Academy (FDA) dove i piloti scelti… per le loro superiori capacità di guida… vengono preparati per un' eventuale loro ingresso nella massima formula… e già nel 2016 Leclerc ottiene la Superlicenza (FIA Super Licence) rilasciata dalla FIA (Federation Internationale de l' Automobile) necessaria per poter condurre in gara una vettura di Formula 1. In codesta Charles esordisce nel 2018 alla guida di una Sauber C37 motorizzata Ferrari mentre nell' anno successivo entrerà nella Scuderia Ferrari alla guida di una SF 90. Per la Casa del Nero Cavallino Rampante è confermato alla guida fino alla stagione 2024 e dove il miglior piazzamento ottenuto finora è il 2° posto nel Campionato del Mondo 2022 alla guida della Ferrari F1-75. Da quando gareggia in Formula 1 ha sempre utilizzato il 16 come suo numero di gara.
