E' facile distinguere tra maschi e femmine della specie, perché se i primi hanno la superficie alare di un giallo limone e macchie arancioni, le seconde sono di un bianco pallido. Ma la sua caratteristica principale è la capacità di mimetizzarsi con le foglie: quando chiude le ali si confonde con l'ambiente circostante, prendendo l'aspetto di una foglia: addirittura riesce a creare delle macchie marroni per mimetizzarsi con una foglia malata.
