Archetype1/model=?:Anacamptis-hill: sent on January 31, 2023 (19:07) by Luigi Torino. 16 comments, 265 views. [retina]

, 1/6 f/8.0, ISO 100, tripod. Specie: Anacamptis collina

Congratulations Luigi, beautiful orchid and beautiful detailed shot, well composed and as always very delicate.
The photos with uniform backgrounds are the ones I like the most :-)
I try to get them when shooting, but congratulations to you for the technique!

Thank you very much, unfortunately with subjects like orchids that background you have and that you keep :-D Not being able to move them as with insects the alternative is either this technique (which is still an alternative to an FS with many more shots at F / 4) or a longer macro focal length (which I do not have); Often among other things I am also limited by the conformation of the environment or by the other plants present and I can not arrange the equipment as I would like.
In the future I already have in mind some tests with an old Nikon AF-I 300mm f/2.8 ED-IF + possibly extension tubes

I tried with focus stacking 2/3 times but the animals always move a little bit and then I don't want to stay at the PC :-D
Let's say I don't want technical complications in the field.
Question: Do you use a micrometer head for macros?
Let me know if you try the 300.
As a lover of old-fashioned Nikon optics, I have seen several series of this lens, even the old AI f4 and heard that they perform well even in macro.
But I don't know if the results are actually better than my 200 macros and so if it's worth it (I'm already super full during my explorations and I would need two more hands :-D )

Thank you!
Question: Do you use a micrometer head for macros?

Should I use it but I get dry :-D from time to time I take it with me, we talk about 20 euros of Neewer sled, if I really want to take these shots I will use it more often and I will also buy Helicon Focus (Photoshop gives too many artifacts)
Let me know if you try the 300.[ /QUOTE]
Considering that alone it weighs 3kg and passes I think I will take it only where I have to walk little and nothing :-D

Hello Luigi, congratulations for your always beautiful macro orchids and for the work you are doing useful for the classification of species for the less experienced, is what I am trying to do with butterflies trying to publish a photo with open and closed wings and the male and female specimen when they have differences. So good luck for the completion of the species, a warm greeting, hello Fabrizio.

Thanks for the encouragement and good luck with your project :-) over time I would also like to develop two-three similar (surely I would like to photograph all the butterflies, odonates and mantids of Calabria)

Beautiful presentation for this species, great job and good luck with your project. Regarding adding extension tubes to a 300mm, I don't think you'll get a much higher reproduction ratio.

Thank you :-)
@Roberto the reproduction ratio will certainly be less pushed than what I get now but the detachment of the floors will be greater ... I will try in any case also to see the yield for the macro more "artistic"

A true masterpiece, so the compliments are double, either for the photo and for the future work.
