IL PROFETA ISAIA, MESSAGGERO DI PACE La scultura vuole rappresentare la pace fra le nazioni evocata dal grande profeta Isaia: “Le spade si faranno aratri, le lance diventeranno falci, una nazione non alzerà più la spada contro un'altra nazione”. Queste parole del profeta Isaia, vissuto 700 anni prima di Cristo e tramandate fino a noi attraverso i secoli sono scolpite in una parete all'ingresso delle Nazioni unite a New York; un messaggio che giunge da un tempo lontano che ancora oggi ricorda all'umanità che la pace è “insieme dono dall'alto e frutto di un impegno condiviso” (Papà Francesco) Lo scultore ha voluto rappresentare plasticamente la potenza evocativa dell'annuncio di Isaia: uno dei guerrieri depone per primo le armi; non vuole più combattere, uccidere, distruggere: vuole per sé un'altra vita, coltivare la terra in pace. La spada, strumento di morte diventa quindi arnese per il lavoro, utile ad ottenere il cibo.
