Prosegue nell'area del "mezzano", Prov, di Ferrara, l'ambizioso progetto europeo, (Life perdix), per la reintroduzione della starna italica, (perdix perdix italica), fino al secolo scorso, diffusa in varie aree del paese, fino alla quota di circa 1800 mt., e già da tempo considerata formalmente estinta. Capofila di tale progetto è l'ISPRA, (Istituto superiore per la ricerca e protezione ambientale), con la collaborazione di vari enti: ambientali, agricole, venatorie, cinofile, ecc. A fine progetto, saranno state immesse, in questa estesa area (circa 1880 ettari), oltre 2200 coppie, frutto di un'accurata selezione genetica da parte degli esperti dell'ISPRA. Saranno inoltre prese misure, che prevedono, l'allevamento, la messa in sicurezza e la conservazione dei nuovi individui, in apposite strutture par l'ambientamento, prima del rilascio nell'area. A breve saranno divulgati dagli esperti, i primi risultati sull'andamento di tale progetto; ma si manifesta un certo ottimismo. Frequentando questa zona, è facile incontrare, numerosi soggetti perfettamente ambientati e facilmente fotografabili.

Ciao Ossiani, credo che le cause principali di questa estinzione, (fenomeno anche europeo), siano da ricercare nei cambiamenti di pratiche agricole, erbicidi, distruzione dell'ambiente più congeniale a questa specie, una pressione venatoria molto importante, nonchè l'immissione nel nostro territorio di individui prelevati all'estero che hanno compromesso l'identità genetica della specie nostrana.
Gli erbicidi, tolgono ai nuovi nati, la presenza di insetti compromettendone la crescita.
Determinante, l'impegno del Corpo Carabinieri Forestali Ambientali, in collaborazione di altri enti.
In allevamenti e tramite laboratori specializzati, si è arrivati ad individuare con analisi genetiche, soggetti con caratteristiche genetiche identiche a quelle delle starne italiche nostrane.
Penso sia molto importante anche la collaborazione del comparto agricolo e del consorzio di bonifica, per la messa in opera di pratiche agricole e sistemi di miglioramento ambientale, che garantisca la buona riuscita del progetto.
La valle del Mezzano è considerata territorio ZPS, (Zona a Protezione Speciale), con pratiche venatorie vietate.
Queste sono mie considerazioni, dopo avere letto articoli, riguardanti questa iniziativa.
