The boxer's Sak Yant...

Il tatuaggio sacro

View gallery (5 photos)

The boxer's Sak Yant sent on December 06, 2022 (5:48) by Fabio Ponso. 8 comments, 465 views. [retina]

at 26mm, 1/1000 f/4.0, ISO 2000, hand held. Sattahip, Thailand.

It's a difficult discipline that requires a lot of sacrifices and commitment, like all sports on the other hand... ;-)
Thank you very much Bepi.

An image that illustrates how much this sport, moreover very bloody, enters the roots of Thai society. Tattooing is a sort of deep, almost mystical, religious belonging of the fighters. Your image shows that sport starts from the road, every material, such as tires, is useful for the purpose of sports preparation. A very hard sport where the blows inflicted, moreover with every possible limb, cause the opponent great pain. I think that in this pain there is a sort of spiritual ascension, also demonstrated by the rituals they use in the ring before fights and above all by the deep respect for the opponent, a transposition of the hardness of life put on the field of struggle.
A beautiful reportage photo that creeps into the deepest meanders of the life of this people.
Congratulations
