Secondo la tradizione religiosa, uno dei più famosi discorsi di Buddha ai propri discepoli fu talmente bello e coinvolgente che tutti gli animali della foresta accorsero ad ascoltarlo. Questo è uno dei tanti motivi per cui nell'iconografia Buddhista ci sono molti animali ed anche il motivo per cui i templi della Thailandia sono spesso abitati da cani randagi ma anche gatti, polli, piccioni, ecc...
