Nel mio girovagare per il Maramures, conosco quest'uomo è mi si stringe il cuore. Cieco, solo, anziano, una casa molto modesta, in una stanza il letto, la stufa di ghisa su cui cucina, uno scaffale e niente altro. Le persone del villaggio lo aiutano con quella che noi chiamiamo “spesa”. Nonostante tutto questo, ci invita ad entrare in casa offrendo quello che aveva preparato da mangiare e racconta con orgoglio e forza che non andrebbe mai da nessun'altra parte perchè lì ha sempre vissuto e, nonostante le difficoltà, è felice.
