The first stack made this season with the excellent Canon MP-E 65 lens. There were 64 exposures. Magnification factor on Canon FF sensor: 5X

@ Pier - very well spotted and I agree. Unfortunately this is a problem of the stacking software. The method used for merging the exposures tends to increase the contrast of the image, so the whites get a little bit whiter.

Below is a single image from the stack, the exposure is as it should be.

Thanks all!

Roberto: the MP-E lens is splendid when used with a full frame camera! On APSC sensors is not that useful in my opinion. It has a very nice magnification range for small bugs and I could use it for around 90% of my subjects. But it has two important drawbacks: small working distance and a big frontal diameter which eats a lot of light. If you are comfortable with those 2 drawbacks and can manage them, the results are excellent, especially when focus stacking is used. ;-)
