Il Faro dell'Isola dei Cavoli si trova nell'omonima isola proprio di fronte al promontorio di Capo Carbonara, da cui dista pochi chilometri, presso Villasimius. Abitato fino al 1973, il Faro Isola dei Cavoli fu costruito nel 1856 e attivato due anni dopo. E' alto 37 metri. Oggi è utilizzato dal Centro Universitario ricerche scientifiche Isola dei Cavoli dell'Università di Cagliari. #Sunset #Tramonto #Fari

The light was really deadly!
We were lucky to find the right mix of conditions, because the night before it was pulling sirocco and the air was dense with a milky haze that is not always the best depending on what you want to shoot (and then it was a hot executioner haha :-D ), then he put mistral that cleaned the air and also brought some clouds (and cool ... that does not hurt).

Really, we were lucky to find good conditions to photograph the lighthouse !
In fact it is a fairly particular subject, the origin of the name of the island is not entirely certain, there is a version, more accredited, which wants it to derive from the transliteration of "Cavurusu" which would mean crabs or shrimps in Sardinian. The other version wants it to be due to the presence of many wild cabbage plants on the island. Today it is a research center of the University, but still it is active.
