L'Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 venne presentata nel 1925 e fu costruita in 6 Serie dal 1927 al 1933 in differenti modelli ed allestimenti… per l' utilizzo quotidiano, per il turismo… e pure per le gare sportive. La vettura visibile in questa fotografia è una rara 6C 1750 Gran Sport 3° Serie nella versione "Testa Fissa"… della quale furono allestiti solo 6 esemplari tra il 1930 ed il 1932… tutti con la carrozzeria aperta… presso la Carrozzeria di Ugo Zagato in Milano. Fra di loro presentavano differenti allestimenti così che ognuno divenne un modello unico. L'esemplare qui visibile ha la carrozzeria del tipo "Barchetta"… cioè senza alcun tipo di protezione per l'equipaggio in caso di maltempo mentre… erroneamente e molto spesso… questo tipo di carrozzeria viene definito come Spider o anche Roadster… modelli che invece dispongono di una protezione semi rigida o di una capote ripiegabili posteriormente. La denominazione “Testa Fissa” deriva dal fatto che il blocco motore e la testata furono realizzati partendo da un'unica fusione per evitare fastidiose perdite di olio. Il propulsore di 1752 cm3 era dotato di 6 cilindri in linea e potenziato tramite un compressore volumetrico Roots che gli permetteva di erogare 102 cavalli di potenza portando così la vettura fino alla velocità massima di circa 170 chilometri orari. L'esemplare qui visibile… spesso esposto presso il Louwman Museum sito a Den Haag (L'Aia in italiano) in Olanda… dopo essere stato registrato con il numero di gara 34 ancora visibile sulla griglia del radiatore dietro al fanale centrale… nel 1934… fu una delle 61 vetture partecipanti alla 1000 Miglia corsa in quell'anno ed era gestito dalla torinese Scuderia Subalpina che fu attiva nel biennio 1934-35. La competizione su strada era partita nella piovosa domenica dell' 8 aprile e l'equipaggio di questa Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 "Testa Fissa" era composto dal pilota Giuseppe “Nino” Farina e da Luigi dalla Chiesa in veste di navigatore ed assistente. Nino… nel 1950… alla guida di una Alfa Romeo 158... sarà il primo pilota ad aggiudicarsi il neonato Campionato Mondiale di Formula 1… allora denominato Campionato Piloti… vincendo 3 gare delle 7 in programma. Era nipote di Giovanni Battista Farina… il cui soprannome in piemontese era Pinin… colui che nel 1930... assieme ad alcuni soci... aveva fondato a Torino la Società Anonima Carrozzeria Pinin Farina che negli anni a seguire diventerà un punto di riferimento ed un'eccellenza italiana di livello mondiale come progettazione e costruzione di stupende ed innovative carrozzerie per automobili.
