La giornata della Giostra del Saracino ha inizio alle ore 07,00 con il primo colpo di mortaio che annuncia il giorno più lungo dei quattro quartieri che si sfideranno in Piazza Grande per aggiudicarsi l'ambita Lancia d'Oro. La prima uscita della giornata è il ritiro della Lancia d'Oro dal Duomo, per poi riunirsi davanti al Palazzo dei Priori e dopo la lettura del Bando della Giostra alla popolazione, i figuranti muoveranno verso le strade del centro storico per annunciare la sfida al Re delle Indie. Dopo il quarto colpo di mortaio alle ore 15,00 inizia il corteo da Piazza San Domenico in direzione Duomo per ricevere la benedizione impartita dal vescovo nel sagrato del Duomo. Da qui la sfilata del corteo storico raggiungerà Piazza Grande dopo aver sfilato per le vie del centro storico tr la folla dei turisti e cittadini. Alle ore 17,00 il quinto colpo di mortaio segnerà l'ingresso dei figuranti in piazza e sarà finalmente Giostra.
