Questa particolare escrescenza e dovuta ad un parassita delle rose, noto con il nome Robin's Pincushion, si forma a seguito della ovodeposizione di una particolare vespa, all'interno delle gemme in formazione ed è molto aggressivo. All'interno della galla si forma un tessuto vegetale, di cui la larva fitofaga di cinipide si nutre. Al termine delle varie evoluzioni delle larve si forma questo "muschio / bedeguar”) che vediamo nella foto. In questa fase possiamo osservare delle escrescenze radicali che perforano la superficie delle foglie, dalle quali trae il nutrimento che la pianta ospite produce spontaneamente, essendo sollecitata dalla presenza del parassita (un processo non ancora del tutto compreso).
