L'angolo di costa chiamato "Le Piscine di Venere" è uno dei più belli e suggestivi della Costa di Baunei, nel Golfo di Orosei. Si raggiungono in circa 25 minuti di navigazione in gommone partendo dal porto di Cala Gonone tra la spiaggia di Cala Biriola e le grotte del Fico. La colorazione dell'acqua è di un turchese brillante per la presenza di numerose risorgive d'acqua dolce provenienti dalla scogliera e dal fondo del mare. Le mareggiate creano a seconda degli anni una piccola striscia di sabbia e graniglia calcarea. È meglio comunque non sostare nella baia a ridosso della parete in quanto quest'ultima ha un'altezza di più di 200 metri a picco sulla spiaggia e non è raro avvistare capre o animali che potrebbero far cadere delle pietre dall'alto durante il loro passaggio. Il nome della cresta in bauenese è "Su Piggiu 'e Laori". Il nome Piscine di Venere è stato dato anni fa da un'operatore turistico di Cala Gonone per la bellezza di questo specchio d'acqua e per il colore cangiante delle pareti che lo circondano.
