con il termine Lizzatura si indica il metodo con cui fino agli anni sessanta si trasportavano dalla cava fino al piano di carico i blocchi di marmo riquadrati. il termine lizzatura deriva direttamente dalla slitta su cui i blocchi ,legati in maniera particolare venivano fatti scivolare . Ogni anno a CARRARA nel mese di Agosto si tiene una manifestazione che rievoca dettagliatamente tutte le fasi della lizza. La squadra è formata solitamente da14-15 uomini divisi tra chi e incaricato di spostare i legni mano a mano che il blocco scende (vedi foto) e altri in alto che hanno il compito di mollare lentamente le funi di acciaio che lo tengono . il capo Lizza e solo lui da gli ordini alla squadra e coordina le operazioni. (nella foto la prima persona all esterno)
