Year 1975
For both photos Nikkormat FT 2 - Ais 50 mm f 1.4 - orange filter - Ilford FP 4
They are documents that feel the weight of almost half a century.....

They feel the weight of the years, but they still testify, unfortunately, to the atavistic foolishness of men ...
Nice document.

Paul remembers that day perfectly; two nights before I had passed through that square with a client of mine from Pavia ...

Beautiful both photos, worthy of the Chiolini archive.
Only after the catastrophic collapse of the tower did I realize the heavy Renaissance elevation that that work had undergone.
Happy Sunday and happy mid-August!

Good morning Roberto, I see that you are aware of the "historian" Chiolini. I knew Guglielmo Chiolini well, the founder of the homonymous company, and a couple of times we found ourselves, both on a bicycle, taking a few shots together. He had an inseparable Leica, perhaps the 3 C model if I remember correctly, of which he was an admirer and promoter in times when he was still photographed in 9 x 6 or 6 x 6.
Of course, even if my photos have become somehow "historical".... Time is running out....
I thank you for the nice comment and heartfelt reciprocation for this Sunday and the Ferragosto.

The note at the foot of your photograph makes you think about the specific case. In an era strongly dominated by engineering investigation in which the means are perhaps there is neglect and hope combined with avoiding new demanding tasks and related financial commitments to deliberately divert the gaze and the mind from the reality of things.
If it has endured centuries it will still resist.
But then many things do not resist and no longer exist.
They collapse on themselves and on the ignorance of those who saw without seeing.

A cordial greeting
Patrick

They collapse on themselves and on the ignorance of those who saw without seeing.

A very sad truth crudely expressed in its being but with the elegance that is proper to you.
I reciprocate the cordiality of your greeting also wishing a Ferragosto of serenity.

Paolo always reserves us interesting images with stories behind us that it is nice to know so out of curiosity or culture, I was pleased to know this story that has not taught us anything because Italy that has thousands of historical buildings should keep under close observation their static but so it is not not to control the road bridges let's imagine, anyway thanks Paul and I take this opportunity to wish you a happy Ferragosto, dear greetings, joseph

Beautiful image/document and the caption that illustrates it.
I fully agree with the previous comments.
Bravo Paolo who proposes first-hand historical images, since you have made it a unique document.
Happy Ferragosto... serene.
A warm greeting, Gabriele
