Presentato come il nuovo modello top di gamma di Ford nel 1955, il Fairlane - dal nome della villa "Fair Lane" di Henry Ford a Dearborn - era rivale del successo di Bel Air di Chevrolet ed era disponibile in sei diversi stili di carrozzeria con una scelta di sei- motori a cilindro o V8.
