Ciao Kekko... Meno male che ogni tanto lo usi il 100-400 che hai comprato! 
Ti critico la foto per aiutarti a capirire dove migliorare... Ci sono parecchie cose che non vanno di questo scatto, prima di tutto il soggetto lo vedo mordido e senza dettaglio, questo dovuto credo al micromosso per un tempo abbastanza lungo da te usato. Lo stabilizzatore del 100-400 si comporta bene anche a 1/125 ma bisogna star molto fermi e avere un supporto sul quale appoggiarsi. In un incontro improvviso come può essere stato il tuo invece, la velocità di scattare per non perdere il momento, mista all'emozione dell'incontro non hanno certo giovato. Nel tuo caso avrei alzato gli ISO fino a 1600 per avere un tempo più breve... Oltre i 1600 con la 550D il rumore rende la foto inguardabile.
Altra cosa importante è il soggetto troppo lontano... Per fare delle belle foto è importante prima di tutto conoscere il soggetto che si vuole fotografare, studiarne le abitudini, prevedere gli spostamenti ed elaborare la foto che si vuole fare prima con la mente, poi per ultima cosa ci si apposta e si aspetta per un tempo non prevedibile, finche arriva il momento giusto e si scatta... Non è l'attrezzatura che fa le foto ma la foto la fa la mente, l'occhio e il cuore... Quest'ultimo non è da sottovalutare perchè se non hai a cuore ciò che fotografi i risultati saranno sempre mediocri...
Altra cosa da migliorare in fase di scatto è la composizione, guardando le foto che fai noto su tutte un denominatore comune, che è il soggetto centrale... Solitamente il soggetto sul punto centrale (vedi regola dei terzi) non va mai messo, oppure ci sono dei casi in cui questa regola viene infranta ma in quel caso si deve essere consapelovi che lo si fa per un motivo ben preciso... Far fotografia non basta comprare una macchina fotografica con l'obbiettivo, è utile anche leggere, studiare e partecipare a qualche corso per capire e coprendere almeno le cose basilari della fotografia...
Ultimo cosa che secondo me sarebbe da fare, è il bilanciamento del colore in PP perchè a mio avviso l'intera immagine ha troppa tonalità blu.

The stabilizer of the 100-400 performs well even at 1/125 star but you have very firm and have a support on which to lean. In your case I would have raised the ISO up to 1600 for a shorter time ... Beyond 1600, with the 550D noise makes the picture unwatchable.
Another important thing is the subject too far ... To take good pictures is important before dall i know the subject you want to photograph, study habits, predict the movements and process the photo you want to do first with your mind, then last thing you would expect for a purpose and non-predictable time, until the time comes right and you shoot ... It's not the equipment that makes the photos but the photo makes the mind, the eye and the heart ... The latter is not to be underestimated because if you do not care about what the results will always be mediocre photographers ...
Another thing to improve during shooting is the composition, looking at the pictures you take on all known common denominator, which is the central subject ...
