National Gallery Asnières è un sobborgo di Parigi. Sulla destra c'è l'isola della Grande Jatte e a poca distanza la fattoria di Clichy. Seurat ritoccò parti del quadro, così come il cappello del ragazzo sulla destra, probabilmente nel 1886 dopo che era stata inventata la tecnica dell'uso dei "punti" di contrasto del colore per creare un effetto vibrante e luminoso. Il lavoro è basato su numerosi disegni preparatori e schizzi ad olio.
