In Tenerife esiste una vasta area chiamata Anaga, riserva della biosfera Unesco, in cui sono preservati gli utlimi esemplari di Laurisilva, pianta che un tempo ricopriva gran parte dell' Europa e che oggi si trova solo qui e a Madeira. Per questo motivo, l'accesso a diversi percorsi è limitato a poche decine di persone al giorno, ed è difficilissimo prenotarsi: noi ci siamo riusciti, e questo è uno di quei sentieri in cui sembra davvero di essere dentro un racconto di Tolkien.
