L'accezione cibo di strada in città è molto diversa da quella che abbiamo in occidente. Qui è visto di cattivo occhio mangiare velocemente, per strada e magari in piedi; è un gesto contrario alle pratiche della medicina tradizionale cinese che consiglia invece di mangiare sempre seduti e rilassati. I piatti che si possono gustare in questo tipo di ristorante da marciapiede sono pressoché infiniti, si parla prevalentemente di carne o pesce stufato o grigliato accompagnato da riso, zuppe calde, noodles… ma anche piatti più da colazione che però spesso vengono serviti 24/7 come sandwich all'uovo e burro d'arachidi o panini vari .E' tradizione alla sera, usciti dal lavoro, fermarsi a comperare cena e gustarsela comodamente a casa propria o, se il tempo manca come nella pausa pranzo, portarsela in ufficio. Morale della favola: non trascurare tradizioni e consuetudini, ma rendiamoci disponibili anche a qualche eccezione se necessaria
