I casoni rappresentano l'impronta umana più caratteristica presente all'interno della laguna. Risalgono alla fine del 1600 e da sempre hanno costituito importanti punti di riferimento per i pescatori. Nella laguna di Marano i materiali impiegati rimangono sostanzialmente quelli offerti dall'ambiente circostante, ovvero legno e canna palustre. Quando le barche si spostavano a remi o con piccole vele i pescatori ritornavano in paese soltanto la domenica. La costruzione dei casoni è un'arte tramandata di padre in figlio che segue una particolare metodologia, Con l'avvento del motore a scoppio a bordo delle batèle i casoni maranesi sono stati via via abbandonati per poi essere riscoperti in chiave moderna agli inizi degli anni '70, diventando la meta privilegiata per le giornate di festa e di svago dei pescatori e dei loro amici.
