The recovery from the bottom penalizes some 'shooting, I see quite noisy, although overall pleasant. Shooting at 1/1250 could perhaps reduce the iso saving just a little 'noise. Of course there 'to say that the approach used is not the best for the birds, especially passerines. With a 'optical more' appropriate can spare the use of the duplicator and the need 'to crop the image of :-)

It really depends on what you want to photograph. For birds, and in particular for small (as can be cinciarella a) would almost always forced to use a doubler). The sigma 300 2.8 I've never used but I've heard pretty well .....

It is in fact being over budget and unthinkable any other fixed or nikon sigma the only choice I drop on the sigma 300 for use with the 2x multiplier nikon that I took recently.
