Vulcano Fagradalsfjall, agosto 2021 - Siamo partiti alle 3 del mattino da Grindavík, una decina di km dal vulcano, per cercare di arrivare in cima prima dell'alba. Arrivati al parcheggio ci attendevano circa 5 km di camminata nel buio pesto, con una temperatura di pochi gradi e vento fortissimo. Torce sulla fronte abbiamo affrontato un trail in salita decisamente ripido, accidentato e quasi per niente segnalato, ma l'adrenalina ci ha sicuramente dato una spinta in più! Già a qualche km dal vulcano si sentiva l'odore pungente nell'aria, oltre a vedere in lontananza il bagliore della lava. Una volta arrivati abbiamo assistito ad un'alba con una luce a dir poco spettacolare, di fronte ad un vulcano in eruzione che emetteva un rombo da far venire i brividi. Ho fatto subito decollare il piccolo drone, il quale nonostante la distanza notevole (in alcuni punti oltre il cratere sono arrivato a 2 km in linea d'aria), il vento e le fortissime correnti ascensionali, si è comportato egregiamente. Mi sono tenuto ad un altezza di circa 50-70 m dalla lava, non conoscendo le possibili temperature... Non a caso il vulcano era definito un "cimitero di droni" :) Un'emozione indescrivibile! Nella sezione "video" del mio profilo è presente un video che mostra anche l'avanzamento dei fiumi di lava, veramente incredibili.
