Sono dei pesci opportunistaapprofittano della situazione per mangiare gli animaletti stanati dal dugongo mentre razzola sul fondo. Scherzi a parte si tratta di una specie di carangidi (Gnathanodon speciosus) che in età giovanile spesso accompagna animali più grossi per mangiare rimasugli dei pasti di questi e trovare protezione presso di loro. Da infanti poi spesso si nascondono nell'ombrella di molte meduse sempre per sfuggire ai predatori
