Il suo destino è unico: il Castello attraverso trasformazioni e sviluppi, riesce a riscattare una soluzione di continuità per quasi venti secoli, al contrario di altri monumenti dell'antica Roma che, vengono ridotti in rovina, o riciclati in più moderni edifici.
