Pisa, così come Firenze, è attraversata dall'Arno. I lungarni pisani, con i meravigliosi palazzi che li decorano e i ponti sopravvissuti ai bombardamenti della seconda guerra mondiale sono i luoghi più suggestivi e famosi della città, nonché fra i più romantici! I Lungarni sono anche la sede di molti hotel e alberghi, per la loro centralità sono il luogo ideale per i turisti che visitano la città. Per conoscere il passato e il presente di Pisa i lungarni sono una visita obbligata. A Pisa sono famosi per gli splendidi edifici che li accompagnano nella discesa dell'Arno verso la sua foce a Marina di Pisa. Un tempo erano il quadrato che individuava il centro della città, per questo i meravigliosi palazzi, opera delle famiglie benestanti che avevano scelto i Lungarni come residenza. Furono rifondati interamente nel 1871, operazione che cancellò i molteplici scali e gradinate che li caratterizzavano in precedenza. I Lungarni sono anche il posto di ritrovo per la vita notturna.
