Sappiamo tutti che le nostre città d'arte sono un museo a cielo aperto, con visite e camminate gratuite sui monumenti storici delle loro strade, qui anche se a pagamento ci godiamo uno degli scenari più suggestivi della culla del Rinascimento Italiano. È possibile che da questi percorsi, nel corso del tempo, vi sia passato qualche curioso illustre ospite, ma la funzione principale di questi luoghi era quella di agevolare il passaggio della maestranza addetta alla manutenzione della Cattedrale, come accade anche tutt'oggi; è soltanto dal 1985 che le terrazze sono state aperte al pubblico
