Il tempo di essere in mostra in una mostra è sempre un tempo di grazia. Certamente perché la fotografia è sempre l'illusione, di cui sento un grande bisogno, che il tempo fermi tutte le sue direzioni mentre io vado avanti. Ma soprattutto perché desidero ardentemente sentire cosa mi dicono coloro che beneficiano della mostra fotografica. E meno esperti di fotografia sono, meglio è, perché mi interessa sapere cosa suscita in loro al di là del ragionamento sul linguaggio o sul mezzo. Per me, per come sono fatta, è importante capire cosa trasmette il mio lavoro immediatamente. Anche se Piccolo Pamir Afghano oggi non è più il mio linguaggio, riconosco in esso un passaggio fondamentale della mia ricerca: il colore come mezzo per esaltare i contrasti (rosso in mezzo al grigio sporco o al bianco neve) che nel mio percorso sarebbero poi diventati contrasti sociali (bianco albino con rosso bruciato acido, o bianco nuziale con grigio verde militare) o spirituali (il bianco della ballerina butoh e il grigio scuro del soggetto non all'altezza degli standard elevati). Tra gli altri fotografi in mostra sono stato catturata dal giovanissimo Emile Ducke. Non guardo mai troppo intensamente le foto degli altri per non farmi trasportare dalla tentazione di copiare e incollare poi di nuovo la stessa cosa. Ho però dato uno sguardo d'insieme che mi dava una strana vicinanza ai soggetti ritratti, la sensazione di essere in treno con loro.
