Come mia consuetudine vi propongo una breve sintesi descrittiva non esaustiva, per stuzzicare una eventuale vostra ricerca (così magari vi assale la voglia di andarci!). La Cattolica di Stilo è una piccola chiesa bizantina a pianta centrale di forma quadrata. La sua costruzione è stata opera di monaci orientali, che nell'ultimo periodo del dominio bizantino, sec. X e XI, si insediarono alle pendici del Monte Consolino. Questi vivevano in grotte naturali che prendevano il nome di laura, ancora presenti nella zona (a breve troverete le immagini della Laura della Divina Pastorella), alcune delle quali conservano tracce di vecchi affreschi. Probabilmente la Cattolica apparteneva ad un monastero dedicato all'Assunta. Questa prima foto è stata scattata in mattinata.
