A proposito di generi fotografici. Mi chiedo sempre che tipo di fotografia sia la mia. Ispirato dai fatti sociali, quindi dalla sofferenza, dall'ingiustizia, dalla discriminazione, ma reso con un senso teatrale, attraverso ritratti in posa. L'atto creativo per me consiste sia nel pensare al tema sia nel come presentarlo. Due momenti diversi ma profondamente legati, che non riesco a separare. Non credo che il mio genere sia puramente reportage, non credo sia puramente artistico. La tentazione di definire ogni genere fotografico porta a una scelta sicura, nessun rischio, nessun cambiamento. D'altra parte, mi piace fare esperimenti, infrangere regole, sbagliare. Do più importanza alla creatività che al risultato atteso. Il mio lavoro è stato rifiutato perché non era un reportage. Se vuoi presentare le tue opere in un concorso sei quasi obbligato a seguire regole precise. Oppure il mio lavoro è stato criticato perché si è detto che estetizza il dolore, o peggio, perché lo sfrutta.
