Il monumento a Christomannos, un'aquila di bronzo, è stato dedicato al politico e pioniere del turismo sudtirolese Theodor Christomannos (1854 -1911). L'influente politico considerava l'apertura economica dell'Alto Adige come una missione di vita. Da appassionato di arrampicata ed alpinismo, si dedicò in particolare al turismo alpino e anche all'ampliamento della rete stradale della regione. A lui si deve anche la costruzione del rifugio Rotwandhütte (Roda di Vael) nella parte sudorientale del Catinaccio. Proprio nelle vicinanze si trova il monumento a lui dedicato. L'aquila venne costruita nel 1912. Dopo una distruzione parziale la possente statua in bronzo, che misura 2,50 metri di altezza, venne ricostruita nel 1959.
