L'anno scorso faceva la sua comparsa in cielo la cometa Neowise, la più luminosa degli ultimi 20 anni! "Le comete sono come i gatti: hanno la coda e fanno quello che vogliono", diceva David H. Levy, e infatti non si sa mai cosa aspettarsi da questi affascinanti viaggiatori del cosmo. Nella primavera dello stesso anno le comete Swan e Atlas promettevano di dare spettacolo ma delusero le attese, mantenendosi su magnitudini buone ma non eccezionali, intorno al 5. La cometa Neowise invece, accolta inizialmente con meno entusiasmo, a partire la luglio raggiunse magnitudini inferiori a 2, diventando ben visibile a occhio nudo! Nello stesso mese sviluppò anche una spettacolare seconda coda ionica di colore blu. Ben presto l'entusiasmo si sparse nella comunità di fotoamatori e personalmente ho cercato di fare delle riprese degne dello spettacolo, finendo per dormire molto poco nelle settimane successive al perielio. In questo caso la Neowise è in compagnia del maestoso cedro di la Morra, la cui sagoma si staglia nelle prime luci dell'alba di una notte limpida
